Prevention in Action
The Prevention in Action newsletter is published twice a year by DrugInfo, a program of the Australian Drug Foundation, supported by the Victorian Government, Department of Health.
Each issue is published in conjunction with Prevention Research (PR) and a seminar—offering a range of perspectives on an important alcohol and other drug-related issue.
Please note that the names of the two publications that make up the prevention suite have changed:

The range of programs described in this newsletter show the willingness of councils to think outside the square and consider the social, built, economic and natural environments that influence health.

Newly arrived refugees and drug prevention

The plight of refugees and asylum seekers has long been a contentious issue in Australia and around the world. While there are many individuals and organisations working to support refugees and asylum seekers, there are differing views about their involvement with problematic drug use, and therefore not everyone seems to agree on the most appropriate, and effective, approaches to drug prevention with these vulnerable communities. The fact that there is a dearth of evidence from research and practice makes it even more difficult to assess the efficacy of current drug prevention efforts.
