DrugInfo newsletter editorial policy

Vision and purpose

DrugInfo newsletter is published four times a year by DrugInfo, a program of the Australian Drug Foundation, supported by the Victorian Government, Department of Health.

The newsletter focuses on preventing alcohol and other drug-related harms, providing coverage of news, events, research and practice for workers and professionals in the field, as well as the general community.

Vision: To be Australia’s premier newsletter on preventing alcohol and other drug-related harms.

Mission: To provide a forum for discussion and dissemination of the latest news, research and practice in drug prevention. This is founded on the principles of:

• accessibility—making it available to a wide audience

• openness—to a broad range of views, perspectives and approaches
• rigour—exploring issues relating to research and practice.

DrugInfo’s editorial policy is initiated, developed and maintained by DrugInfo staff, with advice and guidance from the DrugInfo Advisory Partners Group and the Australian Drug Foundation.

Content

The content of each issue of the DrugInfo newsletter is determined by the "theme" or focus given to the accompanying "suite" of publications by DrugInfo, including an issues paper, reading and resource lists, and fact sheets. This themed approach provides the opportunity to take an in-depth and/or broad look at an issue or topic from a range of perspectives.

DrugInfo will strive for balanced coverage of developments in drug prevention, but recognises the limitations imposed by the thematic format, deadlines and availability of sources.

Sensitive to Australian policy of prevention and harm minimisation, DrugInfo will promote health and responsible lifestyles. Suggestions for the development of the newsletter and its content, format, story ideas or general improvements are welcomed via submission to the Editor.

Invited (commissioned) articles, photographs, news items and reviews take precedence over independent or unsolicited submissions. The editor reserves the right to make any and all decisions and editorial changes relating to the DrugInfo newsletter.

Contributions

We invite interested readers to submit articles, news items, reviews and letters to the editor. Read our Guidelines for contributors to DrugInfo newsletter.

Errors

Factual errors brought to the editor’s attention will be corrected in the following issue.

Distribution

DrugInfo is disseminated in electronic form (PDF format) via the DrugInfo website. Print copies are available on request.
