What is dual diagnosis?

"Dual diagnosis" is a term used to describe the situation when one person has both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can also be called "comorbidity" or "co-occurring mental health and substance abuse".

This fact sheet explains the issues associated with dual diagnosis, and what friends and family members can do to help.
